Andrea Adams Trust – Goodbye & Thank You
On July 31, 2009 the first UK organization to combat Workplace Bullying — the Andrea Adams Trust – exited from the public stage for lack of funding after 15 years of service. The Trust’s namesake, Adams, coined the phrase workplace bullying for the world. She (with Neil Crawford) wrote the first book on the topic in England. Cancer claimed the pioneer in 1995. Read a 1994 Andrea Adams speech.
We at US-based WBI salute and thank the British pioneers for their contributions, including the six years of Ban Bullying Days and crisis line support for targeted individuals. Lyn Witheridge, founder and chief executive of the trust said: “It is time for the Andrea Adams Trust to pass on the baton, and I urge other organisations who share our passion in the fight against workplace bullying to continue with our work. ”Recognition of the effects of bullying in the workplace is essential if it is to be legitimately challenged, which can only be achieved through persistent effort to raise awareness of this insidious practice.”
The Trust will be missed.

Hi,
dont know if my comments reached you yesterday.
just read andrea’s 1994 speech and on doing so it brought back many vivid examples of what i went through at work for at least 5 years.i have to admit there were tears in my eyes as i related to the content of the speech.
now having managed to come through a long dark tunnell that seemed to have no exit signs for a long time i am now being prepared for my final battle with my employers at the Court of Session Edinburgh in a few months time.
without the help and support of my family,g.p.consellor,psychiatrist and close friends i may well have been still stuck in that tunnell with no urge to come out of it.
ironically my employers have recently turned to the TRUST for assistance with a view to radically overhaul their own Bullying and Harassment Policy.
hopefully once completed (and implemented ?)then no one else will suffer in the way that i have.
i wish you every success in the future.
regards
michael
