  1. Beulah says:

As an African American woman in the field of human services, I am appalled by the absolute denial of the work and so-called management mentality in this nation. The “isms” are so prevalent that you are persecuted for even questioning and challenging them. Many of those in the highest of places don’t want to take an honest look at how they got there and how they stay. The problem is systemic and rooted in lies and negative conditioning to maintain the status quo. My people were legally bullied for hundreds of years! The history of “work ethic” in this country has evolved to this point of having to language it as bullyism or rankism. These types of long term practices don’t just disappear with quasi-policies and so-called civil rights laws, only to be undone with language such as reverse discrimination. There are too many managers who have no management training. There is no code of ethics for managers and certainly more value for this ability to bully (overseer) than to profit as a company. So what does this say about us as a nation? We spend 40 hours or more a week feeling helpless and angry as our livelihood is held over our heads to provide this sadistic bullying opportunity. How many targets can a company or nation accomodate? No wonder Americans have such a high demand for prescription, illicit drugs and violence. Can we have a take back our humanity movement that we practice across the board? Or shall we sit and watch the fall of an empire as the rich and powerful are not held accountable and are allowed to bankrupt us psychologically and financially. My suggestion is that you get clear about your value for yourself first and foremost. That of itself will provide the needed armour as you send a clear message that you will not tolerate this kind of treatment, and that your talent can be used elsewhere. I remember just what a breath of fresh air it was to read about workplace bullying, and how I wished I’d been made aware of this information while at the last ten jobs that I’ve had. Anyway, I left jobs where people didn’t treat me well and valued my talents. I left paper trails for prosperity so HR couldn’t say they didn’t know. I blew the whistles, filed grievances and protested from within before leaving. All of the HR departments either protected the “higher-and/or acted as if they didn’t have a clue about how to deal with the bullying. Humanly speaking it doesn’t make sense to me to sacrifice the mind and body for the almighty dollar. Could this be the “love of money” spoken of as the root of all evil. Get out of debt, require less of the material….not just due to the economy, due to maintaining the freedom to take your talent elsewhere and to be valued by you and others! Make Peace more than a season, make it a way of life!

  2. Yetta N.A. says:

This is a thought-provoking and true expression of America’s workplace in the 21st century. Unbelievable!

  3. Giovanni Rossetti says:

Corporate culture is inhumane and truly UPSide down. Gary, I am so thankful for your web based wisdom, knowledge and you truly are a saint for targets. We will win.
