I was bullied out of my teaching job in January of this year. I am still trying to regain my dignity and working to save my home after the loss of my second income. I have no pension. I was hired as part time with no benefits or severence. I’ve had my heat, phone, Internet and electric disconnected, and trying to save my home now is taking everything out of me.

I miss the children. I did nothing wrong, but had a bully boss and have always been a target of bullies at work. I am a misfit. I don’t fit in, no matter where I go or what kind of job. I am a goody two shoes and this makes people feel awkward, as I don’t join in at parties or fit it to their get-togethers. It was always about the children and education to me…not the social aspect of the job.

I was told that they were worried that I would “influence the children” and because I am also studying nutrition and eat only whole, plant-based foods…I was not to tell the children this information whether they asked or not. I was to promote unhealthy eating and it made the entire situation even more awkward. I thought I WAS there to inspire and teach children to think. I was wrong. I miss the children. I am so tired of being bullied…even into my 40′s now. Thanks for this podcast.

Gary, It’s been a heck of a long time since I thought of Mrs. Fischer. Seems like she was a meanie to me, but I can’t remember for sure. It’s been so long! Bullying of teachers happens at the school where I’m teaching pretty regularly. Not by an administrator that has been there for years, but a younger, newer boss that has to have it her way or the highway, especially with the more mature teachers. Over my years of teaching, I have seen a steady decline in respect for teachers from students, parents, and administrators. The profession sure isn’t what it used to be and frankly, I have had it up to here with the way legislators, administrators, and yes, even our governor dole out the b.s. that we have to put up with constantly at school.
