On paper or in practice? The two are not necessarily the same.

They view it as a personality conflict and make it your issue and not theirs.

They see the person being bullied as “the problem and weak.” I lost my job because I wasn’t brown nosing my boss like my attackers were. I went through the “chain of command” including HR about my bullying and it backfired in my face. I wasn’t a team player because I had a doctors appt. that I had rescheduled twice for our office schedule. Then on the day of my bullier’s b’day lunch ( MY lunch hour I don’t get paid for and my doctors appt) I was accused of not being a team player? That was ALL my boss had on me?!  You could tell HR had been brainwashed by my mgr before I even got there. My bullier always got the benefit of the doubt because she is a ministers wife. Then, when I had to have life or end up with cancer GI surgery, had complications and tubes hanging out of me for 14 weeks, they “fill” my position after 31 years with the company. Know who told me? The SECRETARY!

Karen, I understand and empathize with you, as your story almost duplicates what I went through.  It has been 5 years since I left that toxic environment, and I am still haunted by it.  Until one has experienced being bullied, then one cannot fully appreciate or understand the devastation and trauma bullying causes. sending positive energies your way.

One more thing. Our company has mandatory “workplace violence” seminars & also claims not to tolerate workplace violence. Now isn’t that a joke?!
