NBC’s The Office opens season with Workplace Bullying

Set your DVRs on Sept. 20 to capture the season opening episode of NBC’s The Office. According to photos released by the show, the topic is Workplace Bullying.

Can’t wait to see if there is even any acknowledgement of how serious bullying can be in this long-running comedy show.

Regardless of how the topic is treated, this is another indicator of the mainstreaming of workplace bullying in the U.S. via pop culture.

Come back here after the episode airs to post your review.

Everyone’s a critic.

I’ve never watched the show, but after seeing the post on this page prior to the air date, I knew I’d like to see it. I just pulled it up on Hulu to see how they handled it. (,p166,d0 ).

Unfortunately, the scene in the photo above was deleted. All in all, there was definitely some scenarios, but it was not directly addressed, or rather “confronted” except in that deleted scene. Maybe that is the style of The Office – satire over situations without directly calling them out. If so, I suppose they did accomplish that.

I guess I was hoping for even more … but it’s a start.
